During the second phase, workshops favouring exchanges and reflections on sustainable development allowed us to listen to and accompany decision-makers, socio-economic players and the population at large to identify their preoccupations, their needs and their limitations. This is necessary to understand their reality and the challenges they face in applying the principles of sustainable development. In the same spirit, we identified, during the consultations, the existing organisational practices that already correspond to a sustainable development perspective.

The participation of different sectors and their leaders allowed us to gather tangible and essential information related to issues in the region as well as proposals for tangible interventions, interventions that meet the criteria of sustainable development and that are beneficial to the population.

Participants contributed in two ways : by submitting written ideas or by participating in one of the nine exchange and reflection workshops that took place in the Magdalen Islands, in each of Gaspesia’s MRCs. at the Carleton Centre d’études collégiales, in Gesgapegiag and in Douglastown.

The document titled « Development: a question of values » is a good introduction to the consultation process. You can also consult the following documents for more information on the consultation phase:

The workshops fostered interesting exchanges and allowed us to collect information that will be useful for the rest of the project and help prepare a draft of the vision. Reports from the workshops are now available:
