An intrinsic element of sustainable development is the understanding of an area through different sectors. Developing a concerted, long-term vision through the participation of different players in the area constitutes an essential part of regional sustainable development.

Therefore, the objective for the third step of the “Together for a sustainable future” project is to provide Gaspesia and Magdalen Islands with a common vision of sustainable development, and to present the methods and tools needed to apply a sustainable development that best meets the regional priorities identified during the consultations.

The culmination of this step was the “Together for a regional vision of sustainable development” regional conference held in Bonaventure on May 23 and 24, 2007. About 115 participants were present, many of them Francophones but also Anglophones and Micmacs. Geographic diversity was also achieved with participants from the Magdalen Islands and all of the MRCs in the Gaspe Région. It was also an opportunity to bring together people from different sectors of activity in order to work towards a common goal.

Please consult our Summary of the event.
